Non-circular static sealing structures designed for the joint areas of sports watches and wearable devices. Compared to O-rings with a circular cross-section, these gaskets require simultaneous verification of the contour, angles, locating holes, and the method of clamping the mating surfaces.
Drawings and Key Considerations for Model Selection
- Housing mating profile, groove depth, screw locations, and corner radii
- Seal thickness, assembly compression, dimensional tolerances, and parting line location
- Exposure to sweat and cleaning agents, as well as operating temperature; the selection of rubber compounds must be based on actual conditions.
- Appearance after assembly, spring-back during disassembly and reassembly, and overall unit seal test
Issues That Need to Be Confirmed in Advance
The IP rating must be verified through testing of the fully assembled unit; the fact that a seal sample passes a dimensional inspection does not mean that the entire unit meets a specific IP rating.
From Prototyping to Acceptance
- Submit assembly drawings, samples, and quantities, and specify materials, dimensions, and acceptance criteria.
- Verify the structure and operating conditions; discuss the mold and test specimen arrangements
- After the samples have passed dimensional, assembly, and agreed-upon performance tests, the conditions for mass production will be confirmed.
