Preserve a baseline before removal
Retain tool revision, maintenance state, cavity data, material and post-treatment information, and accepted reference parts. Keep actual measured or feedback conditions as well as setpoints. Without the earlier baseline, differences after transfer are difficult to attribute to equipment, maintenance or material.

Turn machine differences into checks
Review mounting interfaces, heating control, injection or compression behavior, venting, part removal and auxiliaries. Machines may display pressure or travel on different bases; align units and conversion logic. Identical display values are not the objective if the actual molded result differs.
Confirm sustained production
Complete equipment and safety matching first, then cavity-specific first-off comparisons followed by the agreed continuous-production period and restart state. If material, tooling and press change together, stage validation or explicitly record the factors. Customer reapproval follows contract and change requirements.
Project review checklist
| Comparison layer | Before transfer | After transfer |
|---|---|---|
| Equipment and mold | Interfaces, revision and condition | Compatibility and actual operation |
| Parts | Cavity data and retained samples | Same-method comparison |
| Continuous production | Original control plan | Trends, restart and function |

Illustrative project example
Similar first-off dimensions followed by gradual movement in one cavity call for thermal-stability and process-trend investigation. First-off agreement alone does not establish a completed transfer.
Frequently asked questions
Can a more precise new press avoid validation?
No. Better equipment specifications do not qualify the combination of mold, material and auxiliary processes.
What if the tool has no cavity numbers?
Establish functional-safe identification or grouping so comparison specimens remain traceable.
